Mississippi State University is a large public land-grant research university located in Starkville, in east-central Mississippi near the Alabama state line. Set in a classic college-town environment, "Starkville" — sometimes affectionately called "Bulldog Country" — centers much of its community life around the university, with a walkable downtown, local restaurants, and a strong game-day culture that draws fans from across the region.
